Rolls is Thankful

The Rolls team is incredibly thankful for the support and business the community has provided over the past year. With that being said… we are excited to announce that Rolls is finally gaining a retail location in downtown Homewood! A retail location has been Katie’s dream all along, and it is finally happening! We are so blessed to have this opportunity amongst the chaos in our world today, and will continue to provide updates on the status and progress of our new retail location.

To celebrate the holiday season, the Rolls team put together a list of people and things we are all thankful for…

Katie is thankful for her 3 wonderful children (Lennon, Caroline, Lyla), her boyfriend, Derrick, her 2 crazy dogs, Oreo and Hulk, and the amazing rolls team that she couldn’t do life without. Her friend group, family, and Ashley Pittman are among her biggest blessings. She is thankful for her health and the fact that she can be involved with her children and give back to the community. She is grateful for the opportunity and ability to work at her growing business.

Sydney is thankful for her niece (Finley) and nephew (Everett), her boyfriend (Austin), her dog (Charlee), and the rest of her sweet friends and family. She is thankful to be surrounded by the funniest, smartest people and to have been given the opportunities to explore and grow her passions. She is thankful to be graduating this December from UAB and for her recent move to Birmingham!

Amy is thankful for her fantastic children (Charlotte and Davis), her loving husband (David), and sweet dogs (Winnie and Blue Bell). She is grateful to be surrounded by a great family and community. She is thankful for her position at rolls where she excels by taking care of the team. Amy is thankful for health and sweet friends.

Kayla is thankful to be living close to family, her sisters and parents, her close friends, and her amazing job at Children’s that has enabled her to be involved in other families’ lives. She is thankful for the side hustle at rolls, and all the laughs that come along with it! She is also grateful for her sweet dog, Girlfriend.

Emily is thankful for her sweet dog and travel buddy, Macy. She’s also so very thankful for her family, friends, and job as a nurse where she gets to take care of precious babies all day!! She is thankful to be apart of the rolls team where she gets to enjoy her love for baking with great people.

Boo(ze) Boxes

Happy Halloween! This year we wanted to use our creativity to put together a box of treats that is fun for both children and adults. We decided to pair our Rolls with wine and candy… because what more could you want! We are so excited people loved our idea, and are looking forward to putting something similar together for the Christmas season, so stay tuned!

To celebrate Halloween weekend, we have put together a scrapbook of some throwback pictures of the Rolls team!

Katie and her son on Halloween of 2009. Katie was 26 and Lennon was only 6 months old. Time flies!

Lyla as an owl. Obviously she was ecstatic about her costume.

Caroline as a ballerina

Caroline and Lennon as Superwomen and Wolverine

The Cornutt children dressed as the Incredibles! Kind of frightening (no pun intended) how much Lyla resembles “Jack Jack” in this picture!

Davis as a pirate and Caroline as french fries

Davis as Scooby Doo and Caroline as Daphne

Davis as Buzz Lightyear and Caroline as a witch

Kayla dressed as a black cat

Sarah dressed as Cinderella

Sydney dressed as a hippie

Emily dressed as Minnie Mouse

We hope everyone has a wonderful Halloween. Whether you are trick or treating door to door, or treating yourself to a glass of wine.

Rolls is Farm, to Family, to Table.

Pictured above are the Cornutt and the Lee children picking strawberries and blueberries for Rolls.

The blueberry patch pictured is Lee Angus Farms, and the strawberry patch is Jerry Marsh Farms. The founder of Rolls, Katie Cornutt, goes out of her way support local businesses by using their fruit for her preserves. Her unique effort not only supports the community, but it adds a special touch to her rolls.

Katie also uses peaches from Chilton County Peaches, another local farm, to make her peach rolls.

“I think it is important for local businesses to be intentional about supporting each other, and picking the fruit locally was a fun activity for my kids”

Katie Cornutt
Founder of rolls.

Once the fruit was picked by the kids, they brought home the fruit and Katie worked her magic and turned the berries into preserves. This is all done right from the kitchen in her home.

Although as easy as that might have sounded, the process of making preserves is not easy. It takes several hours to perfect the consistency of the preserves alone.

Even though Katie is a very busy single mother of three children: Lennon(11) Caroline (8) and Lyla (3), she is always going the extra mile to make Rolls unique and special. She could easily smack some store bought jam on her rolls and call it a day, but she is dedicated to only using the finest ingredients for her business.

Her dedication to details, like making sure the preserves are organic and homemade, is what turned an old family recipe into a popular and fast growing local business.

The fruit rolls are a fun twist on a classic cinnamon roll and are something that make Rolls unique. They are also beautiful…
